patients with DKA have varying degrees of dehydration secondary to osmotic diuresis. Hypovolemia and reduced renal perfusion may results in prerenal AKI which may subsequently cause ATN if the insult was severe or prolonged (1) (2).recent guidelines for DKA management recommended conservative fluid administration with the use of slow rehydration with iso-osmotic fluids and continuous intravenous insulin infusion (3). Aim and objectives: evaluate incidence and risk factors of AKI in DKA patients and study the relation between them. Subjects and methods:The study was cross sectional Study carried on A total of 100 DM cases diagnosed with DKA admitted to Internal Medicine Department, Aswan University Hospital, Aswan University, Aswan, Egypt during the study period which was 1 year (from March 2023 to February 2024). To fulfil the objectives of the study the researcher, based on the recent national and international guidelines related works of literature to collect the necessary study data. Results: the Grades of severity of AKI and the main causes of AKI among cases. About two-thirds had non-azotemic severity, about one-fifth had mild 13% had moderate and only 3% had severe AKI. Conclusion:Early recognition and prevention of AKI in hospitals for the protection of Renal function is important
